Desert Sharks | Kill the Druid | The Mitras | Asylum 213

Brooklyn-based garage rock with punky and surfy vibes, as well as recent signees to Substitute Scene Records, Desert Sharks return to Richmond, VA to grace the city with a Thursday night of rock n' roll thrills and chills. Having spent years playing countless shows, hitting cities across the U.S. on tours, and maintaining a relentless DIY work ethic, the Sharks are an unstoppable force of lyrical passion, high-energy performance, and catchy riffs sure to make you dance up out of your seat! They are set to release their full-length debut in the Fall of 2019, but you can hear their newest single "crazycrazycrazy," from their June 24th, 2014-released EP, "Template Hair," along with many other surfy tunes, at the link below:

Joining Desert Sharks at Garden Grove Brewing & Urban Winery are:

Asylum 213, an avant-garde, experimental, sonic-wonderland blend of ethereal vocals and instrumentals paired with moments of heavy rock and gritty, harsh guitar riffs. Typically a one-man solo act, having existed from as far back as 2010 and only playing out live under Asylum 213 from 2016, Dylan Lawson exhibits a unique blend of synthwave, darkwave, grunge, shoegaze, metal, alternative, pop, and prog rock in his writing style, along with being an amateur comedian the rest of the time. Asylum 213's most recent release, "November Blood," from November 10th, 2018 can be found on bandcamp at: https://asylum213.bandcamp.com/album/november-blood

Kill The Druid, a dazzling experimentation on post-rock/alternative, filled with enchanting vocals and melodies to boot. Kill The Druid put on quite the attention-grabbing show with their driving live performances and unexpected moments of instrument changes during as well. A wide-range of influences inspiring their music, Kill The Druid remain distinct and original in their writing and performance, and are sure to stick out with virtually any crowd they play for. You can get a feel for their sound by listening to their collection of demos and singles on their bandcamp: https://killthedruid.bandcamp.com/album/singles

and The Mitras, a fairly new, but well-seasoned 3-piece collective of lively musicians performing a mix of post-punk, garage rock, and grunge. From catchy choruses, to headbanger riffs, all the way to dancey beats, The Mitras are sure to get stuck in your head in no time, probably even enough to get you to come out to their next show and every one after! Word on the street is they do covers, too...incase you want to be that guy to jokingly request "Freebird," but then actually hear it played back to you! (Disclaimer: there is no guarantee they take requests or will actually play "Freebird" for you, and I think it's safe to say we're all okay with that!) With catchy, hooking originals and fun, familiar covers, The Mitras are definitely an upcoming, solid act you'll want to catch live and pay attention to. While it appears there is nothing studio-recorded to be found by them at the moment, you can hear a live performance (which honestly sounds good enough to BE studio-recorded, really) of their song "Sandpaper," from their performance at MAYO FEST 2019, right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZAs8VNEApI
